Subject observed: Science

School

I’ve completed my observation at Centre for The Deaf. It is located on Gregory Street, and All-age School. The building is painted yellow and . The environment was clean and a bit noisy. The student body attitudes are mannerly, and their diversity is mixed.

Administration

The administrators dress appropriately. They treated their teachers with respects, and their attitude was the same. Their attitude towards me as a prospective teacher was relentless. They was enthused when I told them that I wanted to be a math teacher..

Staff

The Staff dressed appropriately. The attitude towards administration and teachers was respectful. Their attitudes towards the students were stern. Their attitude towards me was appreciative.

Classroom

The classroom was average small. There were charts all over the classroom and bulletin boards. There were also sculptures of the human body and organs.

Teachers

The teacher role was to impart her knowledge to the students. Her responsibility was to ensure that all students understand the concept, and know how to respond the answer. She spoke in sign language. She believed that all students can do their best. Her teaching method was allowing the students to read off of the promethean board and answering questions. She dressed appropriately. Her relationship with the students was close.

Students in the Classroom

The students’ responsibility was to pay attention to the teacher to learn. There were 4 students in class. The students were all prepared for class. Their behavior was great, but there was this one student who wouldn’t participate in the activity because she was shy. They had a good thinking skill.

Overall Impression of the School

I felt comfortable in that school. I think it was a pleasant visit. I learn that EVERY child is capable of learning, no matter the challenges or disability. Most of all I liked the way the teacher used the promethean board. I’ve found that so easier to do a lesson. The coolest thing I remembered was my conversation with the teacher. I asked her so many questions about the use of the promethean board, because she really encouraged me to use that for my lessons. It’s much easier to teach from.
